I just discovered that the red lens is missing from one of the sensors on one of my flash units.
I am not sure what sensors this is, or if the lens is significant or not?
Any advice or direction for replacement or jury-rigged fix would be appreciated.
Yup, it's pretty necessary. I'd send it to Canon and have the lens replaced.

Tail light repair tape from an auto karts store is the best quick fix, but in the long run, I’d have Canon replace it, unless the cost of repair is more than you can buy a new one for.
I’ve got gear with duct tape repairs that are old enough to vote.
Why "MacGuyver" it?
Call Canon... an exact replacement part is probably available for a couple dollars + shipping... and it likely just snaps or glues in place.
You might be able to find the part number online, if the spare parts manual for that particular flash is uploaded somewhere (many Canon parts manuals are online).

Sometimes you need the gear right away - and it's helpful to know how to MacGyver things if they fail in the field. Of course, it's worth it to order the part - the other poster who researched it has the right answer. But if I'm shooting a wedding or event and the part falls off, breaks in two, or disappears, it's a good thing to know how to fix it temporarily, no?

Thanks so much for all the advice and info! I was able to order the part for a fraction of what Canon repair would have cost.
Also- good to know the backup tricks too!

Well worth the cost. This flash is worth $100-150 or more used.
