Thanks for this. I was frustrated tethering to my iPad, I eventually got it to work, but it was fiddly. I'll try my Surface instead.

It's important to remember what I was attempting to accomplish when tethering the camera to a tablet. True, I've tried other apps, but none suited my shooting happens or the format/design was off. Sure I've connected my camera to many of these app but the Canon Connect app is the one that seem the most desirable with its ease of use.
I'm just a person who doesn't like to transfer anything via wifi or wirelessly. I was really pushing Canon for answers & I'm glad they finally responded. So I'm thinking of a surface go and an inexpensive tablet running on win10. I'll need to order the micro USB to Micro USB cable, a tablet holder and another Pergear ball head.
All of this will be attached to my tripod in a manor as to being able to have the live view at an acceptable height for viewing and ease of touch screen with the camera mounted on another ball head in front of the tablet. I'm fortunate to have located a late 70's Velbon tripod which has 3 ball head mounting potions.
So to anyone having issues with wanting to actually see what you're photographing on a larger screen consider my options on tethering a table (win10 based) to your canon camera using the canon connect app. However, there are many other app at google play which may suit your needs better, but these use wifi and not a tether connection.
Locate the correct micro USB to micro USB cable which I found at amazon for around 15.00. Next I located a tripod mounted tablet holder which can be used/rotated in landscape or portrait potions. Then I located or needed a second ball head. Months ago I already purchased one Pergear ball head, Now I can get another.
This set up is going to be heavy so judge wisely your shots. There are a few tripods on the market which have multiple ball head mounts but this old Velbon tripod has two ball mounts locations very close together and a single mount farther away down at the end of the shaft.
The last thing I'll need is the tablet, which might not happen any time soon. Just as soon as I'm able to gather all this and mount it up I'll post a pic unless others beat me to it.
NOTE: This image was giving to me by the person selling this tripod 1 year ago. there are three mounting location on this tripod. The main mount location, a secondary mount at the end of the shaft used for low ground shots and a middle support location. The main head has been replaced with the Pergear ball head. Then I'd attached the tablet holder there. Then using the main mount location in the middle of the tripod for the second ball head which would support the camera. Attach the USB cable and run the canon conenct app on your win10 system. Good Luck.
