Man....the new Lightroom isn't as flexible as the old one (or I'm just old and can't figure out how to work it) :)

1.) How do I make an "intake preset" that's applied to every image as it's sucked into LR?

2.) Is there a way to delete a bunch of images without having to hit the "yes, I really want to delete these" OK button?

3.) Is there a way to tell LR to not import suspected duplicates (like you used to be able to)?

I doubt that any of those features were changed in the new version.
I don't have the new version installed but here is how you do them in the version before the latest:
Presets, in the Develop module, left side of screen, click the "+" by the presets dropdown.
There should be an 'import presets' option.
Deleting files, mark each file you want to delete with the 'x', when you have them all marked, do a control-backspace
and select 'delete from disc'.
Don't import duplicates: in the import module there is c check box for that.

Either I'm blind or they did change it. I tried those things and no joy.

You say the "new" LR? Do you mean Lightroom Classic CC or are you in the Lightroom CC, not the Classic version, but the Cloud version? The Cloud version is different than the desktop Lightroom Classic CC. Classic CC still operates the same as it always has. If you need directions for that, I can post them. Check to be sure you are in the version that you want to be in.

I had LR classic, I changed to Cloud.

I guess my question is; is the cloud version neutered of all of these customization options or is it a case of me not knowing how to get these customizations done?

Wrong software. As noted by others, you want LR Classic. When installed, it should report v9 from the Help / About menu, v9.2.1 as of April 2020.

Yep, it appears that there is a subscription classic version that I want. Stay tuned.

Ok...after a chat with adobe and a few mis-installs of the wrong product...lol...I'm good to go.

They certainly don't make it easy.

It's all still there and Adobe has videos to tell you how & why. Anyone using such sophisticated tools needs to read the manuals or at least perform a directed Google search.

Are you asking about Lightroom CC or Lightroom CLASSIC CC? They are completely different applications.

I see that was your issue... Adobe’s evil marketing department (joke) used a bit of trickery (NOT a joke) to get us to try their new system. Problem is, it just pisses off most users.

It would have been better had Adobe named their two products very differently. I think we would have all understood, perhaps, Mobil Lightroom and Classic Lightroom. Adobe has made it more difficult than it should have been. Glad you finally got the right product.
