Uh, ok, Chief. Hope you're not waiting for me to post a shot of, say, an aardvark or an iceberg or a 1913 Hupmobile or something like that. Might not happen real soon, so you'll want to bring a lunch.

So you're saying it's hard to find a red flowering cactus in a photogenic setting worthy of a "Cany"? Careful how you answer that. You know I've spent a lot of time trudging through the Moab area with a camera on a tripod. And what do you have against aardvarks anyway? They are very photo worthy and kinda cuddly to boot.

Only the desert offers such beauty. This is a beautiful image, Cany.

I have nothing at all against aardvards. Saw plenty while in TX, OK, and other otherworldly places I've lived. Flowering red cactusssses, on the other hand, are rife around here. And as you very well know, they are NOT cuddly.

What is this 'tripod' thing of which you speak? Does it have something to do with aardvarks?

I don't know. It's a pretty cumbersome thing. But I've read a few impassioned pleas from some of the UHH crowd that you should have one if you want to call yourself a photographer. And what's more, it should be carbon fiber and it should cost at least 5 times what your best camera and lens cost. They are supposed to have 3 legs, I think. At least I inferred that from the "TRI" part. Mine has eight, I'm still not sure how that happened. But there you go, that's what happens when you order something in good faith, sight un-seen.
But you bring up a good question. If I start looking at it from the perspective of possibly having something to do with aardvarks...

Oh My Heck! All the aardvarks I ever saw only had four legs! (Well except for maybe a couple of 'em that were road kill ones and there were only three legs still left on 'em. Been quite a few years, though, and "carbon fiber" hadn't even been invented yet, so those road kill ones I remember probably wouldn't have had carbon fiber legs to get road killed off or anything. I'm not sure.) Whatever. But hey, you're a wildlife sorta guy (everybody always said 'squids' were weird that way); got any pix of an eight-legged aardvark? Maybe shot during the blue hour or when there was a comet about to smack Chicago? Or even a regular road kill three-legged one (aardvark) being eaten by a 'gator? Or being eaten by a 'gator with high dollar carbon fiber 'gator skin? You know: maybe something with some drama to it? My 'faith' is relatively non-existent after all these years, so if you could show us (me, I mean) a pic along those lines, maybe I'd grow some faith or be convinced I should spend those big bucks on some carbon fiber thingies.

Well, I'll try. But you better bring a BIG lunch. And if a meteor is going to smack Chicago in the interim there might be a bit of delay. I'm not gonna miss that!
