Look at this. I used the channel mixer. 80% Red 20% green. I followed this us with some histogram edits. Uniforms are a little blown out. I don't know if more detail is in the original.
Hi,
hope this helps, I used Luminar4 and a little PhotoshopPhotoshop
I used Adobe 7; the software was purchased over 25 years ago
I have repaired some WWII pics with my old Photoshop 5 and did pretty well. It took forever and I worked little areas at a time. BUT the results were good and for old photo's they printed well. Yellow spots, black spots, buttons missing etc. Lots of patience!! LOL
Bill
If you would like it restored I would do this at my studio the last 5 years I had my studio. The cost would run around $90.00 I would give the customer prints, But for UHH Colleague I will give you the file. If u decide I need the largest file you can get to send over to me.
So last 15 minute edit for my own peace of mind. Many ways to work the restoration and results, enjoyed them all.
Don't forget to reverse the photo. The original print wasn't done correctly.
The sailor on the left is an Aviation Metal Smith 3rd Class (AMS3). His rating badge belongs on the left arm.
The sailor on the right is a Boatswain's Mate 3rd Class (BM3). His rating badge belongs on the right arm. His was what was called a "right arm rate".
The swastika is also reversed.
My brother was in the USCG also in the same area. He was a CPO Radioman on a DE. I also spent my time in the Coast Guard at the end of the Korean War. I also have a brick honoring him for his service. I only have one picture of him with my Father who was a Police Officer. My brother became a Lieutenant Commander in the Coast Guard and a Chief of Police in California. He and my father are also gone. Some day when I learn how to send pictures I might be able to show you mine. Bill
Here is another attempt. God Bless your father, uncle, and you for your service to our great nation.
It is hard to keep the uniform details but here is a bit more to see by using Photoshop and Topaz Sharpen.
