On the back of camera, you set mode. It was set on video. It was just a pic of a video camera. I’ve have a steep learning curve with this camera.

Are you sure that you are shooting with a Canon R? Mine has no switch on the back that would set a movie mode, it has separate video record and shutter buttons.

Is it the right adapter. It sounds like you bought the camera "body only"..I bought mine with the RS 24 -105 and the canon EF to RF adapter. I assume that all the lens you are trying are Canon Full frame lenses

If all else fails, go to the menu and do a factory reset. not much loss with a one day old camera

Press the mode button which will give you the shooting mode as per this photo. To change from still to video press the info button on the screen and the video options will appear. Visa versa to go from video to still. Hope this helps.

Where is that switch? This is the first day I’ve seen this camera. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Video switch - On my R the video trigger is a red button on top.

You might want to try Creative Live for a useful guide to get started with the Canon R. John Greengo has done "Canon EOS R Fast Start". He has included a pdf of Recommended Settings. I found this to be a useful base config, usually returning to it whenever I have made too many changes to the config.

It's been a steep learning curve but well worth it.

It’s not a switch. Just Mode I got it now. Do you enjoy your camera? I think I will when I learn how to use it!

Debbie, the next time you post, please use “quote reply” when responding to suggestions. Otherwise it’s almost impossible at times determining who says what.

I really do enjoy it. I use the base adapter for all lenses with one exception (so far - 35mm). Adapter has worked perfectly. I do get a bit frustrated at times with the camera (and myself) when something doesn't work the way I expected it to. Just need to sit down and check what I have altered in settings. I've had this camera for over a year and some functionality still amazes me. Make sure you update firmware to latest version 1.6.
Only real draw back has been the slider bar to right of viewfinder - I use it mainly for ISO changes, but sometimes I touch it accidentally and the ISO changes. I better reread the manuals to see how I can lock that down.

Have fun.
