I would bet the media would have had the same knee jerk reaction when someone first wondered if we should infuse toxic chemicals into the body, deliberately irradiate the body, or insert radioactive materials into the body.

But we now use chemotherapy, radiation and carefully positioned radioactive isotopes routinely to treat cancer patients.

A good leader thinks about asks and suggests the following up on ideas in order to advance innovative ideas.

By the way, he did not say that he “ invented the internet”.

That is a false equivalency and the suggestions you refer to I am sure didn't come from the mouth of an untrained, unqualified, layman.

BTW, neither did Al.

yes and no - yes intensity will vary the effect but the point of UV is to disrupt the DNA's replication and functionality. Its what destroys the virus. If the virus is in a cell (which is how it replicates) destruction to the RNA of the virus is likely to cause healthy cell DNA distruction as well. So yes the patient could be 'cured' but can can't get oxygen because their lung cells die without being able to replicate normally. So the good news is the patient has no COVID but they are also dead.

Again - if somebody would site the source of the original comment, we could see if what was actually claimed is being done in NY ... I can show you the site of the ongoing UV studies out of Mt Sinai which are not new ...

It was mentioned that the light was being used with a ventilator, perhaps all air in and out of the ventilator is being processed through a UV apparatus to sanitize it, which could really help the patient and the medical staff.

Where did you read that?

It was on TV — last press conference. It wasn’t a direct suggestion. He seemed to be thinking out loud. But it surely sounded like he thought it would work!

There is a certain class of morons who would be mesmerized by Trump just enough to try it. The makers of Lysol had to issue an urgent plea to people NOT to ingest Lysol in any manner.

And to think they advertised it as a douche about 110 years ago!

What I heard was a blithering idiot of a POTUS. He lacks the critical thinking skills needed to understand what Bryan was saying plus his lack of rational reasoning caused him to come up with this narrative of getting UV light inside the body or using a disinfectant by injection to "clean" the virus out of the body. That's what I heard.

I challenge you for the next week to ignore all media when it come to President Trump's statements and actually listen to his conferences realtime with no pre-bias . Treat it as he is talking to you in a conversation face to face and when he makes a comment to illustrate his statement and say 'like ...' look at it as an illustration to help you understand what he is saying. I bet if you look at the media presentation AFTER you did that your response would be 'thats not what he said !'. If you allow the media to tell you what you 'really' heard then you will never ever be able to think on your own.

Try it - I dare you. What do you have to lose but your prejudice ????? I don't think the president is as dumb as you seem to hold him. We must look from our own understanding though and not blindly quote what people with an agenda (the media) tell you.

Even my comments should be evaluated on facts you can check for yourself. Not doing that proves that WE are by far dumber than you think the president is !!!!!!!!!

You absolutely lie on the injection thing.
There is no video showing it at all.
That is another hoax perpetrated by the DNC and the fake news and you cannot show any actual unedited video showing the president saying that.

Oh, please. In his own words: https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/trumps-remarks-disinfectants-left-even-close-aides-shocked-n1192031

The country would be better off with my dog in the White House instead of Trump. Aside from shredding the curtains, at least he would do no harm.

Exactly. Unfortunately, there are people who are gullible enough to actually think the President is seriously suggesting it. Even the makers of Lysol were alarmed enough to post a warning not to inject their products.

Lysol was alarmed because fake news was putting out to do it and had to CYA to get ahead of lawsuits which will come when some morons believing fake news will do it in the next week or so.

Do you not find it silly that you are supplying a 'news' website link to tell people what the president said ?

Really ????

Thanks for illustrating my point of how maybe its not the president that is not-too-bright ...

In large part it is because many have selectively cherry picked or twisted statistics etc to support one point of view to the point that the reaction is "prove it" from many people. Plus if it is something relatively new or unknown you can almost always find more than one "expert" each with a different set of findings.
As a great statesman/politician once said: There are Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.

My wife comes from a family that usually accept Dr, PhD etc as indicating the person sets at the right hand of God as far as knowledge is concerned. I spent so much time around "Educators" and people with degrees that my reaction is that they have to prove they know their stuff and it doesn't stand for "Piled higher and Deeper". And even someone who really is one of the greatest in one field or sub-field doesn't necessarily know what they are talking about concerning a different subject.

Now you can label that "anti" or "skeptical until proven".

I cannot believe what I'm reading! All the desperate attempts to defend him only makes it more clear how crazy his words were.

No matter how you interpret it. At best his words showed complete lack of intelligence. Am I the only one who felt "substitutionary embarrassment"? (Is this proper english...?? It's a dutch expression..)

If one of our politicians would act like that I would move to Belgium...

You think your dog could avoid getting impeached for peeing on the carpet or sniffing the crotches of heads-of-state ??? Not to mention humping their legs ...

There were several video cameras in use during the briefing. One was focused on Dr. Birx as she sank further into despair at what she was hearing as the president droned on about alternative treatments for Covid-19. He suggested using heat and light, introducing light into the body through the skin, and then said that disinfectants would kill the virus. As everyone knows, there are ways of killing viruses outside of the body. Boiling water works quite well. Unfortunately, boiling water also kills human flesh very well. Trump then suggests disinfectants could be introduced into the body via injection. Watch Dr. Birx as this dangerous drivel drips from the mouth of the most powerful man on earth. This is a woman on the spot, trying very hard not to cry. Listen to the moron's words while watching her face. Weep for our country weep for our world. https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/4/23/1939919/-WATCH-Dr-Birx-appears-utterly-horrified-as-Trump-babbles-about-injecting-disinfectants
