In large part it is because many have selectively cherry picked or twisted statistics etc to support one point of view to the point that the reaction is "prove it" from many people. Plus if it is something relatively new or unknown you can almost always find more than one "expert" each with a different set of findings.
As a great statesman/politician once said: There are Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics.

My wife comes from a family that usually accept Dr, PhD etc as indicating the person sets at the right hand of God as far as knowledge is concerned. I spent so much time around "Educators" and people with degrees that my reaction is that they have to prove they know their stuff and it doesn't stand for "Piled higher and Deeper". And even someone who really is one of the greatest in one field or sub-field doesn't necessarily know what they are talking about concerning a different subject.

Now you can label that "anti" or "skeptical until proven".

Robert,
Then there are the ones who believe; "A lie is as good as the truth, if you get someone to believe it"

So now we have the leader of our country suggesting that people could inject themselves with disinfectant and stick UV lights in their bodies to treat COVID 19. Talk about anti science and medicine... The source of this nonsense is at the top. He is the only one pushing the anti-science and anti-medicine agenda. His toadies fall in line and struggle to support his nonsense because if they don't, they will be fired. It's all about politics. He's more intrested in getting himself re-elected than fighting this pandemic. He doesn't care who he hurts as long as it helps him.

I heard it myself during his press briefing and it is all over the news last night and this AM. It can likely be found on YouTube by now.

I haven't heard any doctors saying please ease up on the travel restrictions. I have heard friends in the medical community say there isn't enough ppe.

The only explanation I can find for this behavior is "You don't know what you don't know" so some people go ahead and blindly promote propaganda if it supports their hero.

He didn't say we should do that. He was asking the doctors about using light to kill the virus somehow and then later asked if there was some way we could use one of the antiseptics to kill the virus inside the body.

You really should stop spreading lies and believing every thing you hear from the fake media.

Here is what he said:

"Question that probably some of you are thinking of if you're totally into that world, which I find to be very interesting. So supposing we hit the body with a tremendous, whether it's ultraviolet or just very powerful light. And I think you said that hasn't been checked but you're going to test it," Trump said, looking over to Bryan.
"And then I said, supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're gonna test that, too. Sounds interesting, right?"

"And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets on the lungs and it does a tremendous number, so it will be interesting to check that. So that you're going to have to use medical doctors. But it sounds, it sounds interesting to me. So we'll see.

"But the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute, that's, that's pretty powerful."
