My 2 Canon cameras have a rotating screen which I love. I use it on telescope and with scope pointing up flip screen and can see object easily

After 8 back surgeries including full fusion of all levels, I am no longer able to get down low to take pictures. I searched for a solution but found nothing appropriate. Then I built something very simple. It uses a pole about the size of a hiking pole and a hardwood platform. The tripod head is attached to the platform with a 1/4 x 20 screw. The platform can slide up and down the rod to the desired level. Now I can shoot low angle shots while standing upright. The entire rig cost next to nothing but solved a big problem for me. Hope others find this useful.

How steady can you hold it? A tripod whose legs can be spread out to get low will be much more stable.
My tripod has a 1/4. 20 bolt on the bottom of the center pole. That will work for a great perspective. Thanks
I really like my tilt / swivel LCD on my Nikon D5300. Sadly Nikon is making fewer of these. I was almost tempted to buy a 5600 just to have another body with a tilt / swivel screen. I guess they are more fragile and hence not used in pro series cameras

Some really nice contraptions shown here.
My thinking is KISS though - a sliding platform on a long dowel and a 1/4” X 1” thumbscrew through the platform to attach the camera. This thought is from buying a tilt head for my mono-pole - didn’t like the extra weight and never adjusted it, just tilted the pole to align the camera with the subject. (KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid)

Why do we need to incinuate any of our fellow Photographer's are "Stupid", maybe the are just Beginning their journey in Photography, they have no experience in what they need or want, so they get advice from others. Any Experienced and Skilled Photographer should want to assist a newbie in making a good choice in what they purchase. Maybe point out both the Positive and Negative aspects of a product they may be considering. yes, your Experience can be HELPFUL

I've made a chair-side macro studio and I need/want a camera mounting device that allows all around and up and down movement of the camera. A tripod is no good because the is no room for the legs.
3-Legged Thing (a British tripod maker) came out with an independent monopod foot and the "Billy" tripod I have from it allows the center rod to be removed and mounted on the foot as a monopod. This gives me the right height and all around movement, but not up and down movement.
I believe I mentioned earlier that I had been scratching my brain for a way to make something to do what I wanted and now it seems as though with AP's invention my search is over.
I like OnDSnap's creation but I don't have the metal working knowledge or equipment to put it together as I do the wood and I don't have to search out and pay a metal working shop to make it, albeit it seems a great idea also.
Hmmm... I just extend one leg of my tripod a foot or two as handle (a mono pod would obviously work) and turn the whole thing upside down. In truth, with all the weight at the bottom, like a pendulum, it's pretty steady, and can even sit on the ground. Sliding some pad/buffer into the hot shoe would add protection but, I just rest it on the toe of my shoe. I can also hang it over railings to shoot under bridges, look under rocks, in holes, shove it where I can't or don't want to go, or lift it high over head to shoot above ceilings, over walls... Release is by electronic remote- no cables or wires...

If that gives you the right height, why would you need any up or down movement??

"...right height..." should have stated but only one perspective. Up and down, along with all around gives much greater ability to change the perspective, somewhat the same as camera in hand being moved to find where the shot will give the best look.

Good one, everybody can say the same thing using different words.
I spent a major portion of my 35 year tenure in the field of engineering design writing specifications for large structure construction costing millions of dollars. It seemed that ever so often when I sent out a spec someone would want different wording. You and everyone else has my permission to re-word my writing even though I will disavow any responsibility for it in its mangled form. Please make yourself happy with the results!
Why don't you show us some of the photos you've taken with your new device. And I agree, you should patent the idea before someone steals it.
