Yep, on a bike ride mine usually peaks at 150 or so - beats when working out at the "Y" by 30 or so. Something about being outside on a good bike that brings out the best!

Have been a recreational runner for 35 years, and despite cancer surgery three years ago and periodic knee and leg issues, can't give it up. Start with a half hour of simple yoga with the wife in the morning, then depending on the weather, 35 minutes on the Lifecycle, or preferably, a run through the local wildlife preserve. Cap it off with more stretching and recently started some pushups. Working toward 50, up to 30+ so far. Try to do this at least 5 times a week. Been retired for 6 years, so have plenty of time for my vices, too.

I'd rather just go outside for a walk in the park and get some fresh air, see some nature, take some photos.

When the urge to exercise comes, I start by flexing my left elbow, using a properly filled Martini glass for resistance. This usually overcome the urge.

Or as a college classmate said, "every time I get the urge to exercise, I get up from the couch, eat a piece of chocolate cake and lie back down until the urge disappears."

I have an 18 speed that I like to ride in the summer.

Cool... that sounds like fairly high tec... I presume a 9 speed cluster x 2 chain rings.

My Diamondback is pretty "old skool" 26 inch, and has
an 11/30 tooth 8 speed cluster x 3 chain rings.

I swapped out the original (very average) crankset for one off
a 26" Diamondback competition stunt bike. So the crankset is the ducks guts...
however being off a stunt bike it was geared too low with 3 small
chain rings. So I fitted a 46 tooth chain ring; that combined
with 11 teeth down the back, gives me enough to pedal downhill/tail wind...
COWABUNGA!

Hope I havn't bored you to death with the ramblings above/pic below :-/

That happens to be an excellent way to keep in shape. The key is to do it 5 times a week for approximately 30 minutes per outing. There’s also evidence that walking increases your creative abilities so your photos will improve.

Long walks, 3-7 miles, were the main and photo opps exercise of choice before Covid. Looking forward to doing more while wearing a mask (pairs of gloves are carried in my backpack for use, if necessary). I don't want to bring anything home but memories and good pictures!

Didn't think my knees would take the abuse of a regular bicycle. Got a Pro Form Hybrid Trainer that lets me do seated cycling or stand like a rotary for exercise. And when I have been sitting at the computer or whatever too long, my Teeter Reclining Table is even better than expected. The included bonuses from Costco gave me acupressure 'dots' and a full body length vibrating pad that is luxurious! After a few minutes, all the muscle tension and pain seem to have disappeared.

Ok, came up with 140. Since my HR doesn’t get close to that looked up “max exercising heart rate” and found that it should be 55% to 85% of the calculated max rate. So that would be 77 bpm to 119 bpm for me. Therefore since the “arm” cranking gets my hr to 81 and my “leg” cranking gets it to 111 I’m within the proper range. It’s resting bpm is most often in the mid 50s the Apple Watch usually says 53.
Thank you for the comments; they made me think about if I was doing this correctly or not. (In a couple weeks I can slack off a little - my calculated hr will then be 139.)

Favorite exercises as we shelter in place?
I was given a foot/hand cycle machine that uses a magnetic brake to apply resistance. A setting for the hand/shoulder workout at 50% the resistance scale will get my heart rate up to almost double its resting rate and setting it at 90% of the scale for foot/leg exercises will get my heart rate up to a little over double the resting rate. (The easy to accomplish workouts are 15 minutes each.)

I push away from the table three times a day.
