Sounds like you are trying to tell us the EDITS got lost. Could you have possibly closed them and clicked "don't save?"

Was there a power glitch while editing?

Have used Elements for 10 yrs; never used their Organizer; I accidentally pushed a button(s) and the photos disappeared into the Organizer; have no clue how to find those pictures - have Googled, but the answers don't help

I believe you can sort the organizer by date - descending order. If you do that, the most recent photos will be at the top of the organizer.

Personally, when I used PSE, I started at the organizer and only opened the ones that were worth the time to edit. It was also where I tagged them so I could later find all photos in the categories I had created. I think a lot of people don't take advantage of this powerful part of PSE that is what drove me to it in the first place.

👍👍. I started using it to organize my scanned slides and prints and to edit the date taken for each.

If you just started the Organizer for the first time, its Catalog is empty. They need to be imported to show up there. The pictures are where they have been. The Catalog is a database. It does not hold the pictures, just information about them, including where on your computer they are stored.

The Catalog is like a card catalog in the public library. It hold info regarding the books, but they are on the shelves. Your situation is analogous to a library where the card catalog is empty. No one has filled out the information and inserted the cards yet.

OK, so we don't use card catalogs anymore, but a computer instead. Doesn't matter, we can't go to the library anyway. :-) Stay safe.

I don't really understand the problem. The pictures are not "IN" the Organizer. The Organizer shows pictures located in various folders on your hard drive. It just allows you to view the pictures, assign tags, put in collections, etc.

Yep, the Organizer only has a thumbnail to view and you use it to open the actual photo for editing. Or you can select one or more thumbnails for copying or moving and the associated photos are then affected.

I did go into the organizer space, finally, from the home page, and it says there is no media; so I guess the files didn't wind up in the workplace, but they were not in the original file, either; tried a search using a file name, but, that didn't work, either.

doesn't matter; I have re-edited the original 50; just thought someone might have done the same thing and knows the answer; thanks to all

Ed I am sorry for the time lost with the edits. I know how frustrating it is when that happens. It has happened to all of us.

However there is value in trying to understand what happened, so as to prevent it from happening again. I hope some of the replies given and to come, will help with understanding what happened.
