Looking at the downloads and viewing them at full magnification, my suggestion is because you have a D850. Have you tried/rented a 200-500 Nikon? - The 'red bird' is better than the other photos. You should be able to get better results with your D850 camera and the 200-500 Nikon zoom. I do.

Compared to any other camera and these lenses, "Nice Photos"

I also own the Nikon 200-500. Going to Fairbanks, Alaska next year. Plan on getting shots of bears in Denali. Wanted a lens with a lot of reach.....didn't want to try to outrun a Grizzly!!!!

Carrying the "Beast" is another story. Once this virus stuff dies down, I'll probably be looking to hire 2 teenagers, a truck, and maybe 2 sherpa's for the Alaskan trip.

I have the Nikon 200-500, also. Used it in Africa last September, and it is amazing. Are you specifically just going to Fairbanks? IMO, there are better places than Denali to photograph bears. I got my best shots of them just outside of Haines at the Lutak Inlet.
