Most these days aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on. Better off finding tutorials on YouTube or Googling what you want to know.

Our local BAM has curb side pick up. I called and tried to get some magazines. The man I talked to said they have not received any new magazines for 3 weeks.

i get Outdoor Photography via Zinio and Landscape Photographer direct download. I get most of my dozen magazines each month via Zinio. Two I get from Issuu.
I also get Arizona Highways as a quasi-photograhy mag.

I’ve always loved reading, my magazines of choice are: Photo Plus (Canon), Digital Camera, they both come with a DVD. Astronomy, Sky & Telescope, National Geo, Smithsonian, O Scale RR, and Model RR. I also, like books by Brad Taylor, Vince Flynn, and Tom Clancy.

My other and most essential are all 10 rounders (NJ)🤬

My two subscriptions are Practical Photography and N-Photo, both from the UK. These are fantastic magazines chock full of useful information.

I am in mourning of the loss of my favorite photo magazines. It's like they folded up their tents and disappeared into the night

I'll read the rest of this thread to see if there is a list of photo magazines still available. I don't think I'm interested in "fly by night" outfits. It's like these people are throwing these magazines against the walls to see if something sticks.

Very depressing.

I still receive the publications form the P.P.of A, and the Rangefinder Magazine, however, these are more business/professional oriented. There is some good general information for anyone interested in the business of photography and the content seems to be biased to the portrait/wedding segments of the industry.

I used to read all the major PHOTOGRAPHY publications; Popular Photography, Modern Photography, U.S. Camera, Petersons Photographic, Shutterbug, and a few imports from the U.K. and Germany. I did not subscribe- I would just pick them up now and again from the newsstands or the camera stores if I noticed an interesting cover article. Obviously, they are all gone but as the disappeared the quality and subject-matter content seemed to diminish and there were mostly advertisements.

I never hoarded the magazines but would only save the few with good reference material and would pass the others on to my trainees and young folks interested in photography.

I do have a few really old Popular and Modern Photography issues. There are lots of DYI projects, "behind the scenes" articles about professional studios, articles by and about famous photographers and some very helpful tutorials on lighting, darkroom procedures and shooting techniques. Modern photography had a testing lab where they would disassemble cameras and write up honest reviews- even negative ones about cameras from their advertisers. These features were well worth the price of admission. Toward the end of the run, there were mostly ads. I realize that all theses publications need the advertising revenue and I like to read the ads and see what's new and what's for sale- it's just that the ratio became disproportionate. So...if I was shopping for a new piece of gear, I would pick up a magazine and use it as a catalog.

I do miss the actual READING as opposed to staring at a screen for prolonged periods of time. I could read int an article lunch and pick it up later on. There was a handy magazine rack in the bathroom- I did not have a "library" reading room at home.

Nowadays, I occasionally pick up a photography magazine from the newsstand at the supermarket- there are a few Canadian and imported publications and the prices are kinda outrageous- well, I'm old and remember when Popular Photography sold for 25 Cents- same price as a quart of milk- or a giant Chocolat bar !

Most magazines have become nothing but advertising with very little, if any actual content.
Hard to trust them or the product reviews since mostly are paid advertisements.
Sort of like most websites too.

My 2 cents again

I saw this well stocked rack of Photography magazines at the airport in Martinique a year or two ago. Unfortunately, they were all in French.
I don't get any print magazines ever since I dropped Outdoor Photographer.

Still like to sit in my recliner and hold a print magazine. I can read books on my tablet but I just don't like reading magazines on-line for some reason.

Here are my current photography magazines:

Outdoor Photographer
Shutter

For Canon shooters these are from the UK and a bit pricey

EOS Magazine ... great technical articles and updates
Photoplus ... just subscribed and my first mailing is delayed due to the Covid19 mess. Digital online is OK but I want my print.

Happy Shooting

I was an initial subscriber to American Photographer, later American Photo. They have long since died. The tradeshow mags and beginner how-to mags did nothing for me, and I was never interested in learning how to build a dark room in my closet. I now subscribe to Aperture for their looks at different aspects of todays working photographers.

On the ballistic side, 1911 and .40 cal.

It's pretty much down to Outdoor Photographer in the U.S.

This isn't a print magazine but in my opinion it is
one of the absolute best camera and lense review
sites available. The reviews are very detailed with
examples of pictures and videos taken by the
camera or lense being reviewed.

I hope you check it out
