The cat was shot at 10 yards or closer. It was gone like a shot. It didn't go far though as I finally caught it in a live animal trap.

All I can my friend is that at 10 yards or closer your pobrecito gato should have been close to decapitated. Yes even with a 20 gauge and especially with bird shot. Livestock??? Chickens did you say?

I have never shot sage grouse but I have heard that a 12 is a much better choice as shots can be out there. Normally I have shot doves, quail and pheasants with 20, 16 and 12 gauges but for fun I occasionally use two 10 bores, both made around 1886, one hammerless and one a hammer model. Over pointing dogs they work well for pheasants but are heavy. Not to be carried a lot. Each is about 9 pounds. Definitely not for quail.

Is the area pronounced, O WE Hee? Maybe O WY Hee? I don't want to stop in some day to buy you a cup of coffee and not appear to be perfect.

Do you have a lot of quail in your area?

There are quail around but development is taking away habitat at a rapid pace. Harder than hell to find a place to hunt. The old original farmers would grant access but the Californians and Washatonian liberals coming in with wads of cash buying property and shutting locals out. Then there is these guys who bought all the Potlatch land and locked it up.

I read the link. That is too bad for the public.

When Potlatch owned it it was open for multi-use recreation. Families went there camping, fishing, berry picking, mushroom picking, hunting, atv and snowmobiling and I believe they issued fire wood cutting permits. Now hired armed goons patrol it and issue trespass tickets. Needless to say the Wilks brothers are not see strolling the streets of Payette or McCall.

Cute, but I shot him, I just didn't hurt him much. The gun was sawed off and I used bird shot, probably both mistakes. I don't think I have ever shot another animal, except a possum that was killing my chickens, but this cat was a wild animal and a real menace.

A sawed off shotgun is a Title 3 federal violation under ATF regulations. They are required to be registered just as if it were a suppressor or a full auto weapon. Thanks for letting us know you’re a federal criminal also. Does ATF know you had (or have) this sawed off shotgun? They would certainly be very interested. I’ll give ‘em a call for you. I still have some buddies here in ATF I used to work with. I’ll get an answer for you and let you know what to do next.

I think a complaint to the moderator to contact the ATF is warranted.

I was going to say the same thing but as long as the barrel is still over 18 inches it is perfectly legal. Of course whatever choke was in the barrel has been removed and it is now only a cylinder bore. That should have been perfect for shooting a cat at the ridiculous short range shot by the little girl. Perhaps the recoil of the 20 gauge played a part. As I recall thommie said he later caught it in a live trap. I wonder what he did with it then, kill it, let it go????

Perhaps. He has been silent for some time now regarding his exploits into the world of hunting/shooting.

Do you remember just a few short days ago when he was making fun of me for hunting in Africa and made one shot kills on all but one animal I harvested including a Cape buffalo? Then he has the idiocy of telling us he missed a cat at close range with a shotgun, no less. I have killed both small game and deer with handguns at farther distances than that.

I’ve shot armadillo with a .223. They don’t know they’re dead. Shotguns on them work much better. Ranchers hate em. Cattle can break a leg stepping into their holes.

Miss a cat with a sawed off shotgun? He’s in need of training. More so of a shrink. I’ll bet it was one of his stuffed animals he was taking his rage out on.

I have found porcupines like that too. Years ago I spotted a young porcupine by a waterhole. I shot it in the head with a .22 revolver from 6 feet because I wanted to try eating porcupine. He turned around and started to walk away. I walked around to his front and shot again in the head. Same thing. At the third shot he fell over dead. I will never again eat a porcupine. Imagine marinading something in Pinesol overnight. That is what this young porcupine tasted like.

BTW a .45 Colt works much better.

One of my favorites. It can be safely loaded to easily beat the .44 Magnum with heavier Bullets. Of course this is in revolvers built to handle the pressure.

Most of my handgun calibers start with the number 4.

You’d be a snitch because you don’t like someone’s posts on a forum?
