I'm not going far from home these days! I've been spending time going through my raw files to see what was worth working on. However, yesterday morning I decided to get something fresh. My back yard is a rambling, disorderly jumble of flowering shrubs and plants. I think of it as a bird and butterfly garden. These shots were just some of the flowers that welcomed me. The sunflowers were the ones that beckoned me to come out but the others were calling once I was there.
These were shot with the D500 and 18-140 lens. I know there is a great lot of talk about mirrorless these days but it felt really good to be using a DSLR. If only the weight were less. I like my Z50 but so far, it just hasn't been the same for me.

A lovely garden series Carol!
How nice to get so much color this early in the early Spring Carol. I love the Sunflowers, and mine came from the bird feeder also. I think that last image is a Justicia spicigera. It is an evergreen. I am glad that you are still using your DSLRs. I have been using the D500 with the 16-80. I have the 18-140 but haven't mounted it in a while. Stay safe.

Gorgeous. You must live in a warm climate
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
I'm going a bit 'stir crazy'. My flowering almond trees, flowering cherry trees, tulip trees, etc. have all bloomed and faded for another season. I do have my re-blooming azaleas and a few remaining lilac flowers. But, I can't easily get off my mind all the migrating birds + insects that I am missing.

Beautiful, Carol. Nice way to be welcomed into the yard.
Thank you, John! Now that my spring clean-up is done it really is welcoming to go out there.

Thank you, Susan. I have been surprised at the number of plants that do spread by runners or self seed. I have milkweed, pentas, buttercups and several others that seem to pop up everywhere!

Thank you, Karin! Since I can’t really go anywhere, I’m very glad to have these at home.

Hi, Jan. I’m glad you enjoyed these. I think you are 100% correct on the identification. It grows fast, cuttings root easily and it blooms a lot. After two winters without a freeze, I have stuff blooming everywhere.
It would be hard to beat the D500 wouldn’t it!

Thank you! Yes, Central Florida. Today it is in the upper 60’s but yesterday it was close to 90 and is going back to the 90’s in a couple of days - a warm confused climate!
