a lucky break w/ bad lens

I had seen lens calibrating discussions in the forum and thought how lucky I was with mine that had the same issues. My front element was loose and just needed tightening. here's shots 3mos apart since. the last one, I was teetering on a 15% crumbly ledge, wind whipping, 1/2sec exp, hand-held

You may call it serendipity (or lucky)... but I call 'em all, "beautiful!"
My fave of the three is the first one for the depth of color, but I'm not a fan of softening the water.

Number two is gorgeous!

Very glad the wind didn't whip you overboard... looking forward to seeing more of your photos! :)

cellega, all are very good. I think the last one is the best of the best.

You were at right place and at the right time to catch the beautiful colors in the clouds, was the picture taken at sunset?
handheld? wish I could do that, but I drink coffee and can't get sharp pictures under 1/60 sec. by handholding. I like all three pictures, but the bottom one is my favorite.

gnzlzspd, thank you.
the first was a sunrise at Lovers' Point in PacificGrove. Used a tripod, 1sec shutter, 200ISO and -1 exp comp
the 2nd, also a sunrise, was taken at the Coast Guard Pier in Monterey. handheld at 1/15sec, 200ISO and -.3 comp
the 3rd was right after work at 6pm, handheld at 1/100sec(not 1/2 as prev thought) at f5(had to be reasonably fast), 200ISO.
just keepshooting, gnzlzspd, handheld or not. whatever it takes. Photography is also subjective. if an image gives you satisfaction, don't mind what others say
