I use Smugmug. If it works for you, what is the issue?

I have a related question. I already own a domain and have a host. What website building sofware would anyone recommend to build the website itself? I would note that Wordepress requires using a wordpress host and the domain that they "give" you. That part is not free.

Check your host offering, more often than not they offer WP as a freebee.

Dreamhost by example offers many solutions for free and other that are add ons. WP, Forums, e-Mails, wiki and a slew of other things are offered. You can edit these things as much as you like, if you are a coder.

Nope, you don't have to use a "wordpress host" - in fact, you can punch a hole through your home firewall, setup an Apache web server on your home computer with MySQL plugged in and then install Wordpress - all of this is free and off the shelf.

As Rongnongno said, your hosting provider may have a "canned" wordpress installation preconfigured for you but if you have FTP or shell access you can upload the WordPress package to your hosted directory, create a database file and get things rolling but in all likelihood you won't have to get your hand this dirty.

I agree on Weebly. I have several sites on it for myself, as well as for clients. I used GoDaddy once because my client had already signed up for it, but found it to be very difficult to work with.

Thank you everybody for their suggestions and examples they have provided. Am now looking into either Weebly of Smugmug.

Thanks again.
