I'm still digging in the past these are from camping trip in 2014. The tree was shot in the bright sun (I got a late start) and my favorite is the b&w.

In this case I like the color better. With this B&W image I feel the rock ledge is just too white. But B&W certainly has benefits and I have seen many images from this forum where the B&W looks much better than its color counterpart.

The color photo allows you to see the green in the tree's needles. The B&W version is good, but it looks a little "messy" because the needles can't be seen for what they are--IMHO!
