I had been shooting with the Nikon 200-500mm lens on my D7500, and it is an awesome lens. But, quite frankly, it just got too heavy for me to lug around, so, I sold it to a friend, and decided to buy the Nikon 300mm PF F/4 VR lens, and I am so glad I did. It doesn't have the reach of the 200-500, but, it is so light, and super sharp. Here are a few photos I took just this afternoon.

I have watched quite a few videos of [people shooting with this lens, and adding the 1.4 converter. They claim there is very little, if any, loss of image quality of the photos.

Steve Perry has said that he has had good results with the 300PF + 1.4 TC. www.backcountrygalleries.com

Very nice set.
I use that same lens on my Df, sometimes with a Nikon AF-S Teleconverter TC-14E III 1.4x.
