As the Sun was about 30 min. for rising, the full Moon was setting over the mountains. It was amazing how bright the moon was at that time.
Pink? Bright? Maybe. Pink????
Just another confirmation of the Inverse Square law. The Moon was at it's closest distance from the Earth so, the reflection of the Sun's light source was the brightest.
Excellent shot. The ability to set up a great foreground in front of a beautiful "sky" shot, with or without the Sun/Moon etc. is the key element to great Moon, Sun rise/set photos. This is so much more that the many big bright circle in the dark Moon Shots we see. Thanks for the effort and craftsmanship.

I have to ask.........how much post production did you do to this?!??! It really pops! WOW!!
Thanks for all the kind words. Since I wanted to send the shot to some friends q,uickly I did a simple post in LR. Mainly I tweaked the sharpness (the result was the bright edge on the top of the moon). I was too lazy to get out of bed early enough to setup my tripod and insure sharp focus, so it needed some help. In addition I did a slight lightening of the overall image. Otherwise it's exactly as you see it. I was surprised by the brightness and color of the moon, but that was what it was.
It was shot at 1/100 sec. 5.6, ISO 400 approx 300mm, Resting on the hood of my car. (handheld).
Thanks again for all the kind comments.

It's the term given to the Full Moon in April, not my choice.

Very nice. Is that shot from your home, or did you have to travel to a different location?
It's about 1/4 mile from home to a road with unfettered view of the mountains.
Really nice! Thanks for sharing

I didn’t even know what a pink moon was until I read it here twice already today. How did I get this old and not know about them and what causes them?
That is a wonderful shot of the moon rising above the mountains. Thank you for sharing.
I'd never heard of a pink moon either. I think it's new.
Well done especially getting up early.
