Thanks for the story of the people. Until now, when I see Canon de Chelley I think of Ansel Adams, Stieglitz and Black and White Images. These are the first color images I've seen of the area. They show how breath taking it is and how inspired all who came to it were. Two nations of native people and several generations of artists afterward.

Related to the Athabaskan people of Northern Canada and Alaska, the Navajo settled the Southwest between the four sacred mountains. The Navajo, or Dine' as they call themselves, continue to raise families and plant crops just as the “Ancient Ones” had. The farms, livestock and hogans of the Dine’ are visible from the canyon rims.

A really beautiful series and some of the best I've seen of Canyon De Chelly. Great compositions, Smudgey.

I am so glad that you all enjoyed the images. One of the things that was really easy to see is the stark contrast of what the desert is when a little water is added. The lush green of the areas that received water and a short distance away raw desert landscape.

These are great. They really give a sense of depth and distance; one or two made me a bit dizzy.
