My quarantine party

My quarantine party(s) happens almost daily, all be it weather related, sometimes not.

Mine is a 10 minute walk to the banks of the Columbia River for some fishing, photo-ops or just quiet time by myself, maybe a few beer. Trying to imagine what it must of been like when the paddle wheelers still traveled on an unbridled river, where the salmon still made their annual journey to end their lives and start the new cycle for their species.

Well it's 6am, not a cloud in the sky, so for the benefit of all I will do my part and quarantine myself.

Just Doing my part

Good thing you don't live in Oregon. They have shut down all outdoor activities, including fishing, even if you are by yourself. All of which is, of course, patently ridiculous. Enjoy.

Incorrect. Social distancing required. Hunting and fishing still allowed in many areas. Real info available on ODFW website.

Does that make any sense

I really believe there is something or someone(s) else behind this,

Thank you for your sacrifice. It is a very hard thing but someone has to do it.
Are the fish biting?
Weeks now and not a single nibble for me - of course it is a swimming pool - that could be why I am not catching anything.

Swede, love your words!!

Lucky me, I walk out the back door ,passing my pool, go to my dock, which is salt water and fish. Crab trap has been poor lately. My boat can take me to Charlotte harbor ---more fish!!

It is sad when people hear, or read one thing, and think of it as gospel, without the proper research....You have a computer at your disposal, and doing reasearch is so easy.

So true. Whenever you hear or see something like; it could be, the possibility of, it might be there is a suggestion of. Your hatred, bigotry, prejudice, intolerance, and hypocrisy against some you hate will always be believable to you. The truth doesn't matter.

Yes, but that is Oregon. Known for draconian measures, not common sense.

Again, the statement all fishing and hunting is banned is incorrect. The truth can be found on the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s web site. I would hardly call a responsible plan to prevent disease spread as much as possible draconian. More like intelligent.

Although I’m retired my career was in public safety and I spent years involved on a local, state and federal level involved in emergency planning and preparation for mass casualty events of many stripes. I do not speak from a political perspective, but a professional one.

I am pleased our small population state is trying to do the best possible with its available resources.

Yep, left coast defensiveness and deflection at its best, proof that "The Dream of the Nineties is Alive in Portland".

The western US is far different from the UK. I can (weather and season permitting) go fishing and not see another person for three days or more--- if I stay camped longer. I can take day trips from home and fish all day and if I see other people they will probably be more than 75 meters away. Right now we are probably two or three weeks away from being able to do that because of frozen streams. But I agree with you that separation is probably the most important thing we can do to end this pandemic, but common sense must be used also.

Every death is tragic but look at the death rate compared to the population in the UK. It is a minuscule percentage of the entire population. That would indicate social distancing is working effectively.

But, look at the idiots who continue to fraternize. The down side is they will be needlessly and shamelessly infecting innocent healthy people because they will inevitably come in contact with some. That is tragic, selfish, immoral and lawless.

The bright side is that these morons probably represent a high percentage of the infected and the dead. That is mother nature's way of culling the out the gene pool and ridding the earth of its undesirable and unproductive elements. I am not speaking of all infected people just the scofflaws who ignore the guide lines. Sounds cruel but it is probably a fact. Its just terrible that the some idiots just keep infecting others.

I think fools fits better (Moron, Idiot and Imbecile are old medical terms for degrees of retardation so real ones have an excuse), while fools or those who chose to commit stupid acts have to work at it. Like the bunch of well off college students who chartered an airliner to go on Spring Break in spite of warnings. The last thing I saw that mentioned them was that 40 out of the group of 70 now test positive for Covid-19 as of late last week.
