I need your help again. One of my coworkers wants to purchase a camera from Walmart which is selling it thru a camera company from Brooklyn, NY called Focus Camera. How well known is this camera company and basically how good is the company? He is also going to purchase a 3 year warranty from Walmart as an extra add on.
Thanks

Do a web search for "Walmart Marketplace Promise". Basically you have some recourse if you buy from a crappy Marketplace seller, but I can't tell you how well it works never having had a need to use it.
Focus Camera is an authorized dealer of Canon, FujiFilm, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Sony and a few other DLSR, MILC, Bridge and P&S brands. From what I've read they are a reputable retailer and they operate two physical stores and a retail website. Personally, I wouldn't waste the money on the 3 year warranty. I own around 2 dozen Canon, Nikon and Sony digital cameras and I've never had one fail in under 3 years; in fact I've never had one actually fail.
Extended warranties are huge money-makers for the retailer, probably more profitable than the product itself. With electronics, the item will generally fail immediately, and be covered by the manufacturer warranty, or not at all. Unless your coworker requires absolute piece of mind, i would suggest skipping the extended warranty.
Try Costco they give you a 2nd year warranty on most items, or they used to.

If it's a CANON they're after, try the CANON site. I'm U.K. but my last camera (9 months ago) was pennies more than the cheapest legit supplier, manufacturer cashbacks were applied at point of sale, and a 2 year guarantee was thrown in.
Worth a look.
I've only dealt with focus camera once and tha t was thru Amazon about 5 yrs ago .Bought my Sigma !50-600 C. Usa version arrived on time no issues. And ditch the warranty. The better thing to do would be take out a rider on your insurance or similar arrangement. All my camera equipment is covered no matter what happens to it and at the full replacement value.
I always tell a retailer ... if youโre trying to sell me an extended warranty then why are you selling the product. Indirectly youโre stating the product is no good to start with. No thank you
I bought a brand new Nikon f2as from focus many years ago. Seemed very reliable. Shipping costs were on the high side

I used Focus once a number of years ago. I remember their pricing was good, delivery time was good, and phone contact with them was good.

For the same price they should just go with B&H or Adorama. No fuss, no muss, just great service without the worry.

I live near Focus Camera. I don't really care for them. I'd rather do business with BH, Adorama and others.
There can be problems when you buy from one company but it ships from another. I recently thought I was buying some hand brushes from Target but they are apparently (unknown to me) coming from elsewhere. I ordered them on 3/22 and still no brushes. I checked my credit card billing and I saw a company that I did not recognize. I called the phone number on the bill and the recording told me that if I bought the item through Target I should call them. YET THIS UNKNOWN COMPANY HAS ALREADY COLLECTED THE MONEY FROM MY CREDIT CARD!! What kind of crap is that??? AND the recording told me that if I wanted to hold on that the wait would be over an hour!!!!!
I believe this warrants a call to my credit card company.

I bought a camera (Nikon) from Focus 3 years ago, and was totally happy with price, product and delivery. They thru in a few unexpected "extras" as well. Very happy with Focus and would buy from them again.
