Well I have sold my Canon 80D camera with kit lens. However, I didn't sell my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM Lens. I am now on my way to purchasing the Canon M50 mirrorless camera with 15-45mm kit lens. That said, my plans are to get into Macro photography, and possibly purchasing the Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM Lens. I like the Canon M50 because of it's light weight, for photography on long hikes in the desert and mountainous areas. Does anyone have specific experience using the Canon M50 camera with EF-S lens??? I want to make the correct lens adapter selection. Attached, please find some pics I made using my Canon 80D with my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM Lens. I would like now, to explore producing closeup pics of these rock specimens, and many others. Is the Canon EF-S Macro 35mm f2.8 the correct direction to go????? Any other Macro lens suggestions??? Thanks again for any helpful information....

I have 2 Viltrox EF to M adapters. The EF EOS M adapter adapts EF and EF-S to EOS-M mount. The EF EOS M2 adapter is a 0.71 speed booster that turns your M50 into a virtual full frame.

Like buying 3rd party lenses, why buy 3rd party accessories related to lenses.
I just bought an M50. Since it is a crop sensor camera, it will work with Canon's EF-S lenses. I decided to get a refurb EF-EFM Adapter. There are cheaper adapters out there, however they each have mixed user reviews. This means that there is a lot of variety in quality.
This is why I bought the Canon version.
My M50 arrives via FedEx today.
For Macro, and for that matter portrait photography, The Canon 100MM F/2.8 L IS Macro is a great lens!
Be cautious of speed boosters. Read all reviews, pro and user. There is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to lenses. Like 1.4 and 2x extenders, they sound great however there are caveats and limitations.

Another vote for the Canon OEM adapter.

If I were still a Canon user, I would get an OEM adapter and then one of the speed boosters based on reviews ..... then become familiar with use both adapters.

If you’re planning taking handheld macro shots when you’re out walking you’ll want a longer macro lens than 35mm. I don’t shoot Canon and don’t know their lenses, but I’d be looking for something in the 90mm+ range.

Canon has this "M" series lense that is used for Macro as well as being an "all rounder":

EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Graphite

Currently available new for $499.00

Canon make a lens adapter for your camera and all Canon SLR lenses. Just got one for my wife camera. It fits every lens I have for me SLR's. It is about $200.00

I use Canon's 28mm F3.5 Macro IS Lens with my M50. I like the 2 settings (semi macro & macro) and the 2 lights surrounding the lens. The main limitation is the 28mm, which means that the lens must almost be touching the subject. This should be fine for rock macros, but not so good for flowers with bugs. I like Canon's 18-150 F/3.5-6.3 lens for general usage.

It’s not true macro. Magnification is closer to 1:3 than 1:1, but that might be acceptable for your purposes.

I just recieved my EOS M50 EF-M 15-45mm IS STM kit.
It is so nice out, I took a quick jump outside to shoot some pictures.
These are all raw, hand held, ISO auto shooting in manual mode.
Does a nice job of up close pictures handheld. Not true Macro, however very nice and may be good enough for you.
