Route 66 is alive and well. I haven't visited it in a while but after all this virus outbreak I'll be heading north and will take some pics.
I love your photo.

Really folks, some of the best (and historic) photographs can be had on this highway. I have occasion to drive portions of this road at least twice each year because my children and grandchildren live in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Once this virus situation is over I will once again be taking my cameras "on the road" and one of my goals for later this year or early next year is to drive the entire length of Route 66.
I've posted a shot taken in Tucumcari, NM a few weeks ago. I passed this scene late one evening and took a few photos. Upon review I decided that the blue hour would work better. I set my alarm for 5:00 am and made sure that I was set up for the shot during the morning blue hour. This is the result.

Is Photography Dead Along Route 66? Not with your shot.
I have done three Route 66 trips the last three/four years
Each year it gets more difficult, but, there are still lots of gems along the way
We "break up" 66 into segments of potential interest
A great stretch is 66 from Flagstaff, Oatman, Arizona west through western California. Oatman is interesting, Needles has great 66 wall art
Our next trip plan when things return to normal is from Springfield, Ill. west to St Louis and into eastern Oklahoma (Commerce-Tulsa and OK City).
What works best for us is to fly into the beginning of our roadmap, rent a car and fly out at the end
If interested, I have Route 66 photos (See albums) posted on FLICKR

Love your photo! Getting up early is maybe a morning's inconvenience, but the photo lasts a lifetime.
Here is a shot of the hood ornament of the Pontiac parked beneath the canopy of the Blue Swallow. Taken in October 2018.

Did you drive that 1955 Olds or photoshop it in? If you drove it, that would be really cool.
Drove Gramps's car, Otto, each time.

Lovin the Swallow. Did you get to the train station?
SUPER Swallow shot.

I used to announce an airshow in tucumcari. I can't remember if we ever stayed at that motel, but I remember it. I am going to have to go through my Tucumcari and other Route 66 photos for a trip down memory lane.

My dad took us from Chicago to San Diego in a 54 Buick in 1955. I was 4 then and remember the trip, and made several more. Would like to try another while there are still things to see. RT66 forever!

A 5am slot must be the right time for
a photo shoot, so a 60’s or 70’s car can be parked in the drive. Nice photo just the same.

Them's fightin' words! I think you must have been lost Mr. Pentax. Don't blame God's country on your map and navigation failures. Rt. 66 doesn't go anywhere near Grand Canyon. No wonder it took you so long to get there! Are you sure you found the right canyon? How about the right state? I took a look at your membership info. Sounds just like an East Coaster to me.
As far as turning it into a landfill, why? We already have one. It's called the East Coast!
East Coast, West Coast, Mid-America, neither of them have a monopoly on foolish statements Chief. Your statement about the East Coast being a land fill is just as foolish as the original poster’s.
My first car was a 1950 Pontiac, and it had the chrome strips on the trunk. I remember that because I took them off right away.
Love it. A beautiful image.
