Quantum physicists may or are on the verge of proving something that philosophers, theoreticians, and theologians have debated endlessly for thousands of years. They are looking at the answer to perhaps the biggest question of all.. Does God exist? Its looking like the answer is yes. For what else can you call something that is aware of every last thing in the universe.

Would you care to provide a link to the source of this "proof"?

So this god who knows everything is okay with childhood cancer, war, torture, starvation and a host of other evils

Sounds like this God is a real great guy.

But how do you (or the researchers, or anyone else) know that this entity (God, or a god) "is aware of every last thing in the universe"?

Current quantum theory requires an observer to measure every event for the event to be 'real'. This is consistent throughout the universe - the question becomes whats doing the observing throughout the universe?

And what witnessed the Big Bang.

Physics also says that every time you make an observation you disturb the system. Is God constantly messing with the universe?

What was there before the Big Bang? When did time start? Why is time unidirectional... or is it?

Whatever observed the Big Bang is what was there.

Time started at the moment of the Big Bang, as did matter, energy and space.

Time is not technically unidirectional, but for practicality it is.

It required infinite energy to propel the universe into expansion, so infinite plus one would be required to reverse said expansion and would be excruciatingly slow.
