I walk my dog on a path along a pond in an unused conservation area next door daily. Two years ago in the spring we would see mom and her kit from time to time, they would see us and back into the pond they would go. One day my chocolate lab went tearing up a high bank and stopped looking into the grass at the top. I went up and found this little guy frozen in place. I took a couple of pics and quietly backed off and we left him alone. I was very proud of my dog, she was interested but did not hurt the little guy.

Great shot! Happy your lab opted to stay with you. I have a friend's lab that ended up at the vet with some serious injuries after swimming with a beaver!
