I was there with my wife last August and found it very interesting. Our tour guide was one son of the originator of the project. Accirding to him, they get no public or governmental funding to help it along, every bit of financing it through voluntary donations, admission tickets, and souvenir sales. I made a small donation and came home with a piece of that rock, it sits on my coffee table in my living room.

Thanks for the info. This is on my bucket list for my wife and I to go visit this Fall, assuming the virus stuff is safe. Where is this monument located?

Not far from Mount Rushmore. We stayed in Keystone, SD. for several days. That provided us relatively easy access to Crazy Horse, Mount Ruhmore, Custer State Park and even Devil's Tower in Wyoming (not a bad drive and worth the drive). It is a bit farther to The Badlands, but again worth the drive to see them.

We drove there from NW Pennsylvania and took 19 days for the entire trip. It was a very enjoyable trip. We did several other activitied along the way, one of which was to visit our grandsons in Wisconsin.

Last bit of advice, don't plan the trip in late September. Keystone pretty much closes down in October, pending the weather.

Safe travel and good health to you. We really enjoyed our trip and I got quite a few really nice photos, one of which was picked for a local art exhibit via a local camera/photography club.

Several years ago we went to Rushmore and were definitely not impressed with it so we ignored Crazy Horse. A couple of years ago we went to Crazy Horse and absolutely loved it and will go back when we're out there again. Rushmore is a tourist trap...Crazy Horse is an educational experience.

We were there a few years ago and felt just the opposite of your last comment.
