If you use the shutter button to focus, check setting a4 in the custom settings menu. Be sure it is set to Shutter/AF-ON.

You must be very frustrated. Good luck!
The camera is back! I had them clean, oil, and adjust, while they had it. The camera looks like new, and looking through the view finder it is super sharp and clear. No exact item that caused the problem, just a list of everything that they did. The bill was $268, and it took 10 days- sent 3-18, returned today! Well worth it. Kudos to APS.
