I'm not stupid but have a slight issue with camera recording of RAW and JPG. Have RAW setup on CF card one for Max RAW 30 mgs. Works perfectly. Have card 2 SD setup for Max JPG. The SD JPG card is only recording around 7 to 9meg JPG's. According to the manual and my settings, they should be 30mg's also! They where before, but now not. Image quality is set at max for both on their respective settings. What am I missing... Thanks in advance- Darren

Look at page 171 of your EOS 5DIV manual. Do not mistake / interchange megapixels with megabytes.

Note the large quality JPEG is 30MP and the expected file size is roughly 8.8MB. Bytes and pixels are not directly related, particularly not in JPEGs.

Just got there Paul..!!! LOL. I was going off of what windows viewer was telling me and not Affinity photo. Opened in Affinity and pixels where correct. And yes that was a typo before.. Anyway, you are a master sir. Love your photos....I'm getting there! Trying to save for my 300mm f/2.8 L II is usm. Already have the 2.0 Tele. Using the Tamron 150/600 as of now......much cheaper but quality is not there but just ok for $1300.

Thank you Darren, glad to help! Your 5DIV should last a decade, depending on your usage pattern, so looking at lenses is a next valid step. I found my 300L used, so keep an eye on those markets too. The expanded AF support of the 5DIV also gives more options for 'doubling' an f/4 lens.

Roger that on used but good gear. The camera is awesome. Coming from the 40 and 80D. Have all good glass other wise.

70-200mm f/2.8 L 1st gen no is, but good. My second Gen was stolen when house was robbed 11 years back. Still have the 2XII converter though
100mm f/2.8 L IS Macro... Love that lens
24-70 F/4 L II good but shoulda got 24-105 II
Tamron 150/600. All I could afford at the time... It's decent but not awesome.
I like birds in flight and any wildlife, plus great war planes taking off or landing. Anywho enough, Thanks again my friend

Yep, just to add that there are several versions of the 300 f2.8L, and the price varies widely. My son bought a non IS version in excellent condition (just some scuffs on the built-in hood) for $1300 from KEH - it is a beast!

Yeah, did a little homework myself. It's still a MAJOR investment. Really decent is still 4500ish. New is around 6099. Can't do new right now, or used for that point. I still have a bit to learn, but i know you have to have quality equipment that will last. I am a custom framing and finish carpenter, so I know tools. But, i can make a better cut say with a homeowners crappy saw than he can. Just because i've been doing it for over thirty years. Use the the tool, don't abuse the tool. It only cuts at one speed safely LOL. Sorry for rambling.
One day I will have one though. Bless all ya all, and stay healthy..!!!

Yes, if you are willing to go used you should be able to find a very nice condition 300 f/2.8 in the $3800-4400 price range vs about $6500 new. Good luck. I played with one and my 2x Extender last summer. Made me realize how used I am to shooting zooms. But it is very sharp setup.

Chiming in a bit late, however I picked up a used 300L IS USM first version for $2,000.00 last year. Bought the 1.4 III and 2x III extender. So far, I really like the results.
A bit older and heavier than the II however very fast AF and sharp images.
Satisfies my needs, for now.....

All good thoughts! Thank you all for you input. I know it's expensive, but so is life and... I like to capture the moments when I can with a CAMERA!! Not a cell phone with an infinity focused lens.
It's almost as if the Buck Rogers era has been upon us for a while. The wrist watch phone... it's here, well a companion to the cell host but it's here! My Great Grandmother was born in
1904. Horse drawn wagon, motor car, airplane (sorta) back then. We lost her in 1999 at 95 years old. I ponder how she grew up through all the inventions and two world wars. I'm rambling again!!! LOL
One day/year, I will get that lens!
Thanks again all, and stay Healthy...... Darren
P.S. - she did get to meet her great great grandson also briefly. My son who just turned 21 today! YIKES!! Thank god all the bars are closed..!!!

Just a thought, nothing more.
Think of how many shots you will miss, waiting to buy the latest, greatest, most expensive!
