From Nikon...
"Nikon prioritizes the health and safety of our employees and customers. Due to the impact of COVID-19 and in accordance with mandates issued by the federal government and various state governments, we have temporarily suspended equipment repairs at our service facilities and are not currently accepting equipment."
That could be a big ouch or owee!
I have been planning to send my 850’s in for some minor, occasional focus issues. Now I will probably have a lengthy wait and, in the meantime the minor occasional issue will become a full time major issue!
I hope they will be taking this time period into consideration when determining the expiration date for guarantees. I also hope if this becomes a lengthy problem they have a plan to determine which cameras should be returned, etc.
I just sent out my d750 for repair yesterday to Melville NY. Wonder what will happen now. Guessing it will be returned.
Yeah, but when? Are they going to assume that the repair is necessary and, therefore, hold it until they reopen the repair facilities? Are they planning for short-term or long-term shutdown? How will that affect the process? Will they want to send back cameras and then have to take them back just a few days or weeks later? Will they feel it cheaper and more efficient to keep the cameras?
Lotsa questions to be answered.
Good luck!

Please keep us in the loop. I suspect they will accept the delivery and hold repair until they re-open.

"Suspension" of the service probably goes with Governor Andrew Cuomo's closing non-essential activity, sending {by now} 100% of the employees home. I would not be surprised if your camera sits in the post office until that order is lifted.

Where does this come from?
Nikon has a big facility in Melville, NY. They don't want to expose their people to any added risk at this time.
Of course this is a non-essential service, and they are following NYS law.
Get perspective please.
My D610 arrived in Melville last Friday just ahead of the announcement by Nikon. Great timing on my part :-(
So you have a better solution?

Basically it means, at least for a while, people should stop dropping their cameras so often. Using a strap at all times is a good start.

It's not Nikon. It's a pandemic. I am a physician supporting IT solutions and I am now full time doing COVID-19. Sorry you have to wait for your cameras. And Nikon is doing the responsible thing. I'm glad I'm a Nikon guy.
