Is there a mirrorless camera out there or on the horizon that would be considered a point and shoot camera?

I have had my eye on the Panasonic zs200 for an easy carry travel camera with a decent zoom, but wasn't sure if I might be missing a better alternative. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Aren't all "point-n-shoots" mirrorless?

Just how you call it.
Most if not all P&S are mirrorless because they don't have mirror and the viewfinder is generally an LCD screen. That's the simple definition of mirrorless camera.
However, most people when they talk about mirrorless they mean mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. Sure you can call a camera with interchangeable lens a P&S but then most people don't call them that although most can be used in fully automatic mode that allows you to just point and shoot.
And then some when they say P&S they mean a small camera that would fit in their pocket.

So whether or not there is a mirrorless point and shoot is all about how you call them.

The Canon G9 is excellent. Super compact shirt pocket size with a nice zoom.

The best you can get right now is the Fuji X-100V.

I've seen mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras referred to as MILC.

As some have said previously, all point and shoot cameras are mirrorless. A point and shoot, IMO, is a camera without a viewfinder. You use the LCD screen to frame your photo. Just like a smartphone. My 5 year old Nikon Bridge camera, the L840, with a LCD screen, has no viewfinder. I consider it a point and shoot camera. A Sony RX10iv is a high quality Bridge camera, with a viewfinder. But, I have never heard it classified as a point and shoot camera? Some pocket cameras fall in the same category.

And mirrorless is MILC for short! But call it whatever you want I don't argue. I just said that the question: Is there a mirrorless point and shoot? The answer is both yes and no depending how you define the term "Mirrorless" and "Point and Shoot".

To me, "point and shoot" means how good the automatic mode is. Can you get good results when point the camera and shoot a picture without setting aperture, shutter speed, ISO and focus.

It seems to me that all current cameras have become good at that regardless of their size or ability to change lenses.

Thank you for the lesson on 'mirrorless' I think I understand now. I really appreciate the information.

I found a lot of confusion in the categories when I was looking for a bridge camera. My reference to a point and shoot camera was picked up in the filter section of camera sellers websites. My thought is that they do not have exchangeable lenses and have a lot of automatic settings. Very similar to what I think of a bridge camera. I don't know what their definition is for these terms.
