I recently purchased a Nikon Z7 mirrorless with FTZ adapter and attempted to mount a Tamron 150-600mm G2 which works perfectly with my D500. Once mounted to the Z7 adapter, and power turned on, I immediately get an error on the camera. When I bought the Z7 the dealer told me this lens was a F mount and full frame which would work fine on the Z7. After searching the Tamron website it looks like there may be a firmware update but I can't tell if there was a specific update for this lens. I would appreciate any thoughts/ideas.
Best regards!

It won't work. There are not enough electrical contacts on the Tamron lens for it to work. I have two lenses, a Tamron and a Tokina. Neither of them will work. But my Nikon 200-500mm works fine.

It works perfectly regardless of what some people want to tell you.
But it DOES require a firmware update from Tamron. You can do the update yourself via Tamrons Tap-In Console ($59) or you can send it to Tamron for the cost of shipping for free update. Also, most local camera stores will do this for free.

The older Tamron 150-600 will only work with manual focus. The G2 will fully work with the firmware upgrade.

Tamron will ALSO update the original 150-600 firmware, but it's not console compatible so you have to send it to them for that service.

I figured if I was gonna have to box it up I’d just send it to MPB as trade-in on a like new Nikon 200-500. 😜🤪
