Back in February I had posted a topic looking for advice on a small, tabletop size tripod to carry down to Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I ended up purchasing a Leophoto LS-223CEX
https://www.leofoto.com/products_detail.php?id=367. As this was our first (and definitely not last) hike to the bottom, there was a natural concern over pack weight and the ability to climb out 10.3 miles. With that in mind and the excitement of our adventure we flew into Phoenix, stopped in Flagstaff overnight then headed to the Canyon. Driving into the park, we stopped at many of the beautiful viewpoints. Looking deep into the Canyon at our last stop., it hit me...... we were hiking to the bottom of that beautiful ditch. Well, it didn't take long after we got to our room for me to start jettisoning all non essentials from the back pack. I looked at the tripod and it looked at me...... for a very long time before it too landed in the jettisoned pile. My thought was to enjoy this first hike down, the lay of the land, and the beauty of the canyon then next time.....
So here are a few images from our trip.
Lovely Pics of my favorite park. The trip down and back was always something I wanted to do. Time and age caught up too quickly before I could make it happen. I envy your trip. Hoping you post some good shots of the inner gorge canyon. Not many ever post the inner canyon. Can you do it???

It is a gorgeous park. I understand about the time and age thing. It took 4 years to win the Phantom Ranch lottery to stay 2 nights. Probably would have been easier 4 years ago. I must admit, it was easier hiking 10.3 miles out than the 8 miles down. Knees and calves. I will post more photos tomorrow.
Beautiful photos. Mahalo for sharing.
JKruz... what a cool hike ...and the pictures you got gives me some unique insight ....you must have tons more .., let ur rip ....
Excellent set, post more for those of us too old to make that hike!
