Nice exhibition again, Paul.
Very nice series. Your images are excellent as usual.
π€π€ππmany stories there
Thank you junglejim1949, Gitchigumi, John, Dennis, Susan Earnest! Guess we're all limited to virtual museum tours for a while. Glad you enjoyed.
Very nice series from the museum again. There is so much and they are packed in so tight it is difficult to photograph entire aircraft. You captured many beautiful photos.
Reference C-130 Fat Albert. Did you know that this aircraft is ground crewed by US Marines, and probably by Marine Pilots. (The Navy does not have pilots, they have aviators,)

Wonderful set of images Paul. Thanks for the tour.
While the C47 was a workhorse for the 40's and 50's paratroopers, my favorite iterations were "Spooky" and "Sparky" watching over us in Vietnam.

At the airfield in Qui Nhon off to one side there were some C-47/DC-3's in their own fenced off section of the field. They were painted flat black and the markings #s etc were all in Glossy Black. Want to guess which three initial agency they belonged to? Actually at least one of them did have "Air America" in glossy black.
I was the classified documents and report clerk + alternate custodian of documents in the 1st Log Sub Area Command HQ for over 18 months and we used to get a lot of visits from guys in civilian clothes (several of them favored God Awful Hawaiian shirts with cowboy boots and hats) who called each other "Mr" Smith, Jones, Green, Brown etc We had the whole alphabet soup of agencies in and around the city.
wheres the corsair? my favorite

Enjoyed the whole series, Paul. Great shots. Especially liked see the PBY Catalina.

Question regarding the Skytrain. What determined whether this type of aircraft was denominated a DC-3 or C-47?
If you bought one from Douglas, it would be a DC-3. When the Army Air Corp bought them, they were the C-47, and the Navy named theirs the R4D, but since around 1960 the Air Force and Navy had to use the same nomenclature system for aircraft.
Great set Paul. Thanks for sharing.
Paul, great shots as always! I've never seen a Blue Angels C 130 before. Nice. By the way, the Blue Angels are coming to the Niagara Falls Air Show in 2021. I think the date is the weekend of the 19th. That I would have to double check.
