It is illegal to feed deer here. I don't care if there is a blizzard. You can get arrested for feeding or baiting deer. They are programmed to eat grasses and browse on brush and buds on branches in the winter at the rate of 4 lbs of browse per day. For 100 deer that is 400 lbs of branch browse a day. After a while there isn't a bud within the first 6 feet of the forest from the ground up. This "park like" view means the herd is over populated and will die of starvation in a storm. Hay won't save them because by those months the acids in their stomachs cannot digest the hay. Now they die of starvation with a stomach full of food they cannot digest..! I am not going to learn a thing from you, I could teach this class along with any serious deer hunter we know the biology of the deer woods which escapes a novice observer. Check my facts here they are 110% correct. They eat our crops and that hurts our farming and we don't just slaughter them although I can get a permit to kill 100 at night if I wanted. I choose to wait until hunting season and take them with a regular license. I am not berating anyone but if there are 200 deer where you can support 60 they are hurt in the long run. Also to correct your misconception about number 2 the Doe or Doe Fawn. If you have a DOE permit. It allows you to shoot any anlterless deer including a fawn. So if you are in deer camp and you have a DOE TAG you can legally shoot anyone and eat it for camp meet for the week. All deer are legally tagged upon killing the deer in the woods before we even take a knife and dress it out, When we walk up to the deer we fill out the tag in PEN and cut out today's date on the tag and attach it to the animal. It never is allowed to be moved without a tag. Our hunting license money is what has provided these animals for you to photograph. It sure as hell isn't the AUDUBON SOCIETY or PETA or FRIENDS OF ANIMALS. Hunting license fees support all of this industry and renewable resource. Thank you very much. OneOwl

You are indeed very knowledgeable. Just like to explain two things. WE are in extreme drought here and the ranchers are trying to save what deer we have. Also, I am doing my photography on a photography ranch. No hunting by order of the owner. Since this small ranch is next to much larger ranches, the deer come and go as they please and they are hunted. Since we are near the border, we have some people who kill deer (and other things) out of season and also kill things on the endangered species list, such as the Bob White Quail etc. Yes, you are right, we have a doe season and this is good because as you pointed out, there must be some control. Right now however, we are trying to keep what we have healthy so that hunters in the future will have something to shoot. I think that we live in totally different environments. I am glad that we can agree on some things and I appreciate your "feedback". Always learning. Thanks.

YOU SIR ARE A GENTLEMAN. I AM IN THE EASTERN USA ON A BIG FARM WITH HUNDREDS OF HUNGRY DEER BUT NO DROUGHT LIKE YOU HAVE SUFFERED. We have bears turkeys and healthy numbers of EASTERN COYOTES that weigh 40 lbs females and the DOGS...males...weigh up to 65 lbs. These Coyotes eat a lot of deer and adult deer. We had a trail camera set up on a den and last spring the adults brought 17 fawns that we could photograph,...to their pups. More than that I am sure but we had a camera on one trail near their den only.
If I were there with you I would be digging waterholes and finding a way to accidently spill corn from the wagon on the way from the field. Poaching is a thing we deal with here. We have a Conservation Officer with a swat like team and he sets up a mounted full body big buck after dark on a field. In a short time he nails some shooter jack-lighting that deer. It has a head that moves by remote control radio to fool the best illegal hunters or killers actually. The Conservation Officer in NY State has more authority than the State Police or a Sheriff. He needs no warrant to search your car or truck or enter your house and barn and look through your freezer. He is one bad ass dude or She is also. I am on your side. No offense intended.
