I went to my neighborhood food market. All the toilet paper, paper towels, and pasta, and pasta sauces products were sold out. Spaghetti, macaroni, etc. I went to buy coffee, pasta, and eggs. I was able to get coffee and eggs. In Tennessee, a man traveled throughout Tennessee, bought all the hand sanitizer he could buy. Including Dollar Stores. He wanted to sell them at high prices, to desperate people wanting them. He drove hundreds of miles throughout Tennessee to acquire these. He ended up being stuck with $17,000 worth of unsold stuff. Now, he is being investigated, by the Tennessee Attorney General, for hoarding during an emergency period. Now, the economy is at risk, employees sent home with bills to pay. Schools in my area are shutting down for a month. And more businesses closing down temporarily. I've been around for quite awhile, and I've never seen this much anxiety. Even, with hepatitis outbreaks, wildfires, earthquakes, and floods here in California. But, those were not global though. Volunteers, without the virus, have been given test vaccines for the Coronavirus already. But, don't expect an effective one, to be ready anytime soon.

If you are feeling sad and lonesome due being voluntarily quarantined from others, just arrive at Costco a few minutes after opening at 10:00 a.m. You might be lucky to get a parking space, to be able to move freely around the aisles, skirting all the people, to find what you are desperately wanting to get. And you will see cashier lines stretching 2/3 of the way back into the store. Whew. People slowly marching down the aisles, speaking on their cell phones at the top of their lungs. Are their family and friends all deaf?

And in case you are bewildered as to why the toilet paper shortage and hoarding? Well, if you are going to buy six cases of water, you will surely need much extra t-p as a result. At least, we ladies will.

Going home to a quiet house with no other people but your family may seem so inviting . . . and hopefully you bought enough t-p and water so you don't have to return til next week.

According to the article I read the guy had 17,700 bottles of sanitizer. It had a picture of him in his driveway with the garage door up and packed solid with a bunch stacked on the driveway also. His sales ended because Amazon canceled his seller's account for gouging.
Just about an hour ago a little filler article in the on-line news said he "donated" it all. Probably after a gentle "suggestion" by a Good Ol' Boy Sheriff or Police Chief.
I'm from Western Kentucky and those Ol' Boys can be very convincing. Probably had the local Preachers "mentioning" that boy in the Sunday Sermon. Next Sunday he will be praised for his "generosity" in donating it.

I was listening to the news this morning and heard something interesting. They were saying that this could be a tipping point that could bring down the cost of higher education. If all the brick and mortar schools send students home and turn to online teaching through this crisis, they said it may just stick.

They both used it. FDR used it in his 1933 inaugural address.

Most of that speech applies in some way to what we’re going [to go] through in 2020...

I must have misread the article. Anyway, I think he learned a hoarding lesson. Glad he donated.

Yes, it is a good thing that he got some good advice and help deciding to donate that stuff. Those Southern Good Ol'Boy cops can really help you get your priorities straight when they give you "friendly" advice.
