I agree again. Here's a novel idea. Instead of campaigning to raise money for their elections (all elections) take the hundreds of millions of dollars and contribute it to defeating the flu virus instead of their competition. By raising money and showing that they are putting it "to the good of the people that they will represent" they could instill confidence that THEY are the best choice when the election comes.

However you see, that simply will not happen for elections are BIG BUSINESS. There are those that make a very lucrative living via election campaigns. There are firms that are hired for PR and strategy work. Media gets huge money for the ads that are run. People are hired to "spread the word" on the phones and on the streets. It goes on and on.

It has been estimated that the Obama campaign raised and spent nearly $1-Billion dollars. Simply ask yourself, "Who got the money?" Well....I can surely tell you who did not.

The best thing that we can do for our government is to impose term limits on Congress and Senate seats as well as agency bureaucrats. The United States Government should not be considered employment and benefits for life. I'm not referring to the 'boots on the ground' employees nor our military leaders. Agency executives and upper level staff should not be career employees....unless no change is ever desired.

Imagine how one's life would be if there were no divorce. Well, that's exactly what we presently have as an analogy.

It's sad that our government has bloated and became so self-serving which is exactly what the Founding Fathers had designed it not to be. It took eleven years to get the consensus of the States going back and forth to finally arrive at our Constitution.

Like President Trump or not however what his presidency has revealed is just how ingrained, deep and tangled the real powers with the government truly are and to what ends they will resort to in order to keep it that way.

And that...is the most worrying part of it all. Transparency is only as good as the direction one looks.

There's a story about a fellow one dark night that comes across a man frantically crawling on his hands and knees under the street lamp. The fellow asks, "What are you looking for and perhaps I can help?" The man says, "I lost my keys and I need to get home". The fellow asks, "Where about do you think you dropped them?" The man says, "Somewhere over there across the street." The fellow asks, "Why on earth are you looking for them over here?" The man says, "Because the light is better over here."

And therein lies the problem. Transparency is good however looking in the right direction produces results.
