At the local state and national level regardless of party we should be hoping that our elected officials make

There is no concern or compassion. Is it as serious as they make it to be, only time will tell.
Do I think there is a good chance this is being blown out of proportion yes I do.

The youngest to die in USA is a 40 year old person. They were chronically ill and very immune compromised. The majority are 80+ years old and again chronically ill.
