Typically referred to as a CIB.

The Combat Infantryman Badge is a United States Army military award. The badge is awarded to infantrymen and Special Forces soldiers in the rank of colonel and below, who fought in active ground combat.

My bro was in 3rd Div. Invasion of S.France. He and his buddy knocked out 2 or 3 German half-tracks. Later he was wounded Bullet went in wrist and out elbow.
He was awarded Dist Serv Cross, Purple Heart, Silver star, etc.
He was my HERO!! We lost him in 2015 at 91,just a month from being 92!!

I never heard of an EIB, so I looked it up.

'Criteria: Awarded to U.S. Army personnel who hold infantry or special forces military occupational specialties. The service member must complete a testing phase which is the culmination of weeks of training, leading to a final evaluation period. The test is administered on once per year with pass rates averaging no more than 50 percent, depending on the unit conducting testing.
