iPhone Portrait mode

Maybe this belongs in one of the other forums, but I was tinkering with some of the modes on my iPhone (seems I have a lot of free time with all events locally being canceled).

So, here is my first shot with Portrait Mode. seems it just creates a mask for the sharp edges and then does some blurr. I think it didn't work.

it's because it's not a portrait. It looks like the transparent neck of the bottle against the bright sky fooled the camera into thinking it was part of the background.

Interesting result.
Ironic subject matter.

100% agree. Computational photography has come a long way. Random things like this show the way the algorithms guess. The "portrait" algorithm is looking for a "subject" to mask, and then blur everything else. The fact my phone does this on the fly is pretty impressive. I don't think it is at a real low aperture lens yet, but it is interesting.

Then again, maybe I'm bored a little.
