Love the Ravens and Crows!

We took an Alaskan cruise a couple of years ago and found the the ravens of Juneau are very tourist savvy, so much so that some townspeople considered them almost a pest!

Check out Steve Perry's website, if you haven't already. His information has helped me greatly with BIF.

Marshall

I appreciate the tip, Marshall, thanks.

Nice. By the size and looks of it, that would be a Raven and not a crow

Thanks for looking and commenting.

That black patch on the top of the beak seems to be another way to determine the difference. When I went online to investigate, the differences focused on noises and shape of the tail feathers when flying, not too useful for this type of analysis.

Certainly not with my bird photography (LOL).

Thanks, Mark, but I am too old and too slow to be a good birder.

As a landscape shooter, I am always in awe of the photographs of birds in flight and at great distances that you post. In my recent trip to Canyonlands, I promised myself that I would attempt to capture at least one or two shots of birds to share.

Attached are all the photos I got that are worth even sharing with an understanding audience. In my defense, these were the only birds I saw. The crows were at almost every view point, always a pair. Some other visitors said that they were male and female. Could be the same pair following me. One rumor was this is how park rangers are reincarnated.

The first posts are iPhone shots, the last one was the only one I could get with my camera.

Mike, it allways amazes me how good the photos from a phone can be. Not bad detail considering I used a DDL to see how much there was. Bird photography can be easy (Blinds and feeders) or as difficult as any photography of living animals that move around, Ants can be hard to get great photos without staging the shot. Most of my shots come from a blind (hide) with a 600mm lens and sometimes that lens may have additiona help from my 90D. My $.02.
