Giraffes love to play by violently moving their head in a quick semicircle and crashing into their fellow giraffe - if they are really trying to hurt the other they will strike the other in the knee - fracturing the knee and rendering the giraffe helpless for prey to consume - couple pictures of play-not great quality sorry - newbie

Nice shots Tom ... thanks for sharing them. We did not see anything like this ... but I have seen video of it. It can be pretty violent from what I hear. Great shots ... hope you share more. Frank

The first is nice, the first time I saw giraffes necking I thought they were showing affection!

Actually they do fight with their necks. That's the most powerful weapon they have. The males fight like that to establish their dominance and sometimes they fight over the females.
