It seems to me that there are some that don't want to be counted for fear of being put on the tax roles...

April 1 is Census Day. After that, all hell breaks lose as we chase the non-respondents down for personal survey interviews.

This year, field enumerators use iPhones and government database software to handle their surveys.

I’m a Census field supervisor for the next few weeks or possibly months. Today was a training day... It’s going to be interesting and challenging!

I got involved in the 2010 census chasing down folks who didn't return their forms by mail. Some of those people could be real a**h***s.

Is everything that happens on April 1st a big joke? If somebody is born on April 1st does that mean they're a fool?

Bet you that they didn't count the Native Americans in the 1790 census.

"Speling Dusn't Cownt" ..... well ....

President Andrew Johnson was known to be a bad speller. When someone criticized him for incorrect spelling, his reply was priceless: "It takes a small mind to spell a word but one way."

How are they going to ensure only legitimate individuals are counted.

All individuals are legitimate.
It's a count of everyone that lives in the USA, regardless of their immigration status.
So it counts citizens, undocumented immigrants, felons, everyone.

Agreed to a point. But why was the left so opposed to putting the simple question on the census: "Are you a citizen of the USA?"

They ask questions about: What is your sex...your age...your race? Are you of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin? Seems like a citizenship question is a perfectly legitimate piece of information. Is the census bureau racist for asking what race you are? Perhaps there's a new word on the horizon: citizenshipist....another IST word that the radical left would like to use.

Sorry, but not all individuals are legitimate and those who are in the nation illegally should not be counted. It may be set up that way but that is wrong and should not be.

I wish we could, but if we ask that question, a vast majority of the undocumented and even legal citizens who have undocumented relatives or have become naturalized citizens will not respond at all to the census out of fear and we will not get an accurate count, off by millions.

We need an accurate count to budget for school attendance, determining how many House Representatives a state gets, and to fund many other programs that are open to all.

Otherwise things will be underfunded/undercounted and that will affect benefits and rights for all of us — "legitimate" residents and natural citizens, too, especially our school children.

There should be no House representatives for illegals. No anything else either. If there's nothing for them here there's no reason for them to be here or stay here. We can't repeatedly give amnesty and say no more and then do it over. We need to make it so there is zero reason for them to be here and 100% reason for them to not come again or stay.
