Trading a Lens with MPB any problems ?

MPB.com is one of the best "Buy/sell/trade" platforms, I'd say they rival or maybe best KEH & UsedPhotoPro based on the last couple years of dealing with the majors (KEH, MPB, UsedPhotoPro), AND I HAVE USED ALL THREE, since I am a verified customer. The have offered the highest trade or buy values, and their rating system is equal to the others. All items bought from them (lenses and bodies) have met or bettered the stated rating, and they give shutter counts!!!!
My $.02

I've used them a few times. I find their prices to be competitive and they seem to always have a great selection. No problems with items I've purchased from them.

Only one issue that I've had:
My latest purchase of two lenses was last week. One of the lenses was thrown into the large box with no bubble wrap protection. This was a very large box with the typical long string of brown packing paper crammed into the box. The other lens still had its own box (which the lens floated around in, dislodging the hood and front lens cap). It's the first time I received a shipment from them in this condition. Both lenses were ok, but I've never had a shipment from any of the resellers come to me like this. I did go on their website and provide feedback.

I don't think you can go wrong with them, honestly; I'm just a little frustrated with the packing.

If you don't know then this question is not for you.

I think you can deal with them with confidence. I had a good experience buying from them. Got several quotes from them for items I was selling, but always did better on eBay. I believe they are big in the U.K. but relatively new in the U.S.

I have bought from them twice. Both battery grips for D800/850. The D800 came with a battery in it. Good prices for equipment that was almost new. Good service too. I will do business with them again.

Both key and mpb are reputable as well as lens rental. I have purchased lenses from all three of them without issue.

I have used MPB many times a prefer them over KEH. They honor their quotes and process payments more quickly.

Hi, I have used MPB on many occasions in the UK for selling kit.
Excellent company to deal with, fair prices (better than Ebay) and prompt payment.
Hope this helps.

Good luck

I suggest that when dealing with mpb.com, you don't trade. Just buy and sell. Last year I sent them a Nikon 18-55 DX VR in trade for an 18-55 DX VR II. By the time my trade-in arrived, they had misplaced the lens I had selected. They wanted to just pay me for my lens, which would have left me with no 18-55 lens. When I said no, they were difficult about getting my original lens out of their inventory to return it. They really should not put trade-ins online until the end of 7 day approval period for the lens they shipped out.

This year I tried to buy the II lens. They shipped a refurb. To be fair, they sent me a prepaid return label. Then I traded in a 50mm f1.8 D on a like-new 18-55 II, which arrived with a scratch on the body. I will see what they want to do, but I expect my 50mm is gone, and they will want me to accept their price for it, when I could do better on Craigslist. From now on, I will buy and sell, but as separate transactions.

I should note that I have been very happy with three other like new lenses I bought from them, and with the price they paid for a lens I sold to them. It seems that perhaps the margins on the kit lenses are so low, they are not as careful when checking them.

I sold them a D7100 last year. Fair price and fast payment. Just today I traded them a D7200 for a D500 with less than a thousand shots. Hopefully it will go smoothly also. They do have a 180 day warranty on used gear. Not a bad place in my opinion.

I will toss my 2 cents in as well. I have done a pretty fair amount of selling to; trading with and buying from MBP. I have always been pleased with the service and the prices paid and charged. They beat all the major places like KEH; Adorama and BHPhoto in there deals. So...yes go for them
