Human tastes and cultural norms are one thing, what is not funny, is laughing at animals trying to escape being fried alive. Some cultures relish eating octopuses alive, and domestic dogs are still served up for dinner in some places. I don't find that amusing either, but this is little more than torture. A far cry from eating a maggot.

what was disconserting to me was seeing a 1/2 dog in the meat case at a big supermarket

So you could try having somebody tie a rope around your neck and see what it's like to suffocate slowly. Makes about as much sense as your comment doesn't it?

Don't get the connection. ????? I don't eat fish either.
After living for almost 70 years, I am well aware of "reality". I just fail to see the humor in causing any sentient being excruciating agony and fear. I may be wrong but I don't think from the responses to this post that I'm alone. I have had my share of pain and don't wish it on others, including animals. If that is being "saintly" I'll take it.

I don't get upset over anything that people eat as long as I don't have to try it. I just don't believe in cooking anything alive. Just because you can't hear them scream doesn't mean there is not pain.

The clip may not be funny to all but many of the comments are funny to some others. Different strokes for different folks.

And this ladies and gentlemen is a reason we are fighting a world wide pandemic. Eating infested, uncooked bats and god only knows what else was the start of this virus.

Agreed! Not everything is good for eating. My Chinese co-worker told me that they eat Human fetuses. She says it is "illegal" but if you have money, you can get what you want. They think eating a human fetus brings them youth. That is a sick culture.

Oh and I so enjoyed my time in Hong Kong back in the 60's. Maybe I really just think I would like to go back someday?
