This Great Blue Heron hangs out at Great Crossing Dam near Georgetown, KY.
He has a favorite fishing spot on limestone rock ledge on the south side of North Elkhorn Creek, and when fishermen show up to fish and get too close he will fly to the north side and wait for them to move away.
When he flies back gives about a 10 second opportunity to get a BIF with the flowing dam overflow as a background.

I like the shot with the bird on the rock more; the background is less distracting
Very nice Marshall. Both are great captures, but I like the second one a little better. He looks very intent.

I'll have to agree...the first image is a bit blah.
Here is version two, cropped in a bit more, greater emphasis on the heron with a side benefit of highlighting those big bubbles in the foam.
What do you think? Improvement?
