I have a pistol grip style ball head in need of a quick release plate. I looked through 20 pages of quick release plates on Amazon and another 8 pages on B&H and did not see one that looked like it would work. If I could identify the brand ball head, maybe that would help. Does anyone recognize this? Thanks for looking.

Does look similar to the one Screamin Scott mentions. You could try this; Measure the inside dimensions of the plate slot, minus approx. 1-2 mm for fit, purchase and try, the hold down system should lock right down on the "wings" of the plate. Just make sure they have a return policy (I'm a Prime user, so returns are covered).

Looks like not much angle on the side opposite the clamp screw.
Do you know someone with an Arca-Swiss plate to try?

Dolica, I owned one with two QR plates. I think I purchased a second QR with a Desmond name plate. A very hefty pistol grip that worked well. I sold it in a package on UHH.

Bingo!
Ravelli (Kruger Optical 65307)
Could be marketed by others.
Discontinued by manufacturer.
With the Dolica name, it’s on back order from Adorama https://www.adorama.com/dog100.html
I hate when I misplace that mounting plate!
Looks like a good product.

It's a Manfrotto model 222. It seems that the retaining design for the quick-release mechanism and plate has changed since the version I have but you may still be able to obtain the part you need from the company. If you can't find the exact fit, here are a few suggestions.

* You can order the plate for the current model (see ad clipping form B&H) -depending on the size it may fit your model or it is too large or a slightly different shape, it can be machined to size.

* In that same ad, there is an adapter that may be adaptable to your unit that will fit the current plate.

* I have a Monfrorro adapter (see the image) that is still available that will fit the popular Manfrotto plate. You can loosen and remove the screw in your unit and replace the existing quick-release mechanism with the one shown in the image.

I've had my model 22 for 30 years- I love it for monopod use, what with the one-handed operation. The latest version ss the 322, The model you have looks like it came out sometime in between the 222 and the 322.

PS--EDIT- If it is not a branded Manfrotto model, it certainly looks like it was made by them and marketed by another company. That screw in the center of the unit looks very "Manfrotto-like" so you may still be able to make an adaptation.

Good luck!

Won't work. It has a locking mechanism as an additional safety measure (nice), and the angle is more than enough to not allow an arca plate.

I checked with a colleague of mine who specializes in gear support adaptations. He has adapted the Manfroto quick-release replacement part on many different ball heads and conventional tilt and pan heads. The replacement part (shown in the attached picture) has two threaded tripod sockets. You may need to enlarge one of them to accommodate the screw shown in the attached picture, or you may want to drill the third hole in order to better center the replacement part will accept the standard hexagonal plate which is very sturdy.

I have converted all of my tripods, camera stands, and articulated arm clamps. and monopods to jibe with the same quick-release mechanisms.

I have mostly Monftottos and Gitzo tripods and heads and find the systems integrate nicely with the is standardization.

Good luck with your fix!

I have one of these somewhere in this dump that I live in. And you can adjust the tension in the ball with an allen wrench.

Great fix!
Makes parts easier to get with a great major brand.
