If memory serves me correctly plotts years ago were bred for bear hunting, my father had a friend years ago that raised plotts. Enjoy your fine looking pal.

Plotts often have brindled coats like this big guy. So, he may have some in him. Head and ears look a little more pit bull like unlike most hounds. My dog has some similar head and ear shape. Had him DNA tested when he was a pup so we would know what his disposition would likely be for training. I live in the mountains in western NC, and we have some breeders in the area with stock that is from the Plotts that originated in our mountains.
