It all depends on who is doing the judging and what the criteria is. Since it is for a sporting goods place, probably animals would be better than a landscape (if you're entering to WIN). Is there any way to discover who is doing the judging and what their particular criteria might be? Will their interest be more in the subject rather than the quality of the image?
Without us... which one do you like the best? You're the photographer.
I personally like #4... the moose standing in the water.
It's either #1 or #4, but #1 wins!
Cindy - that first image is spectacular, and would be the one I would enter.
Let me tell you that those judges could give you a surprise. I have participated in some photographic competitions and I have never win anything. I have been surprised by the judges decision and I am not saying mine were better than the others.
To my your second shot is simply spectacular.
I’d go with #1......great portrait.
#1. I also would be curious to see #2 a little less bright. A bunch of nice shots.
Well Cindy, I agree that #1 is a magnificent portrait, but I am more drawn to #2. Go with your instinct. Contests are not always won by the best photograph. The one that wins is the one that makes viewers go Ahhhh!

Loc: South Central Massachusetts
Tough choice but 1,3 or 6 with a nod going to #1.

I think I would go with No. 1. There aren't any other entries of a close up animal that are as good as this one.

The 1st & last images are my favorites and in the same order.......either one is a winner. The Ram portrait is really impressive....no question about it.

I really like #1. A unique closeup.
